Attention filmmakers!

Looking for funding for your next project? INDEPENDENT TELEVISION SERVICE (ITVS) seeks proposals for public TV programs which take creative risks, serve underrepresented audiences and express points of view
seldom seen on commercial or public TV.

OPEN CALL provides completion funding for single non-fiction programs (not series) that are already in production.  There is no minimum or maximum funding amount, though ITVS funds must be the last money in to the project. The deadline for Open Call 2009 Round 1 is JANUARY 16, 2009.

**Please note that Open Call no longer accepts submissions for fiction
(i.e. narrative, drama, etc.) projects.

Performing Artist Roster Program

The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities is currently accepting applications from individuals and non-profit organizations for the Performing Artist Roster Program (PAR). The roster showcases some of DC’s most talented artists in dance, music, and theater.  The purpose of the program is to promote artistic exchanges between Washington, D.C. and Maryland

Charlottesville's Amoeba Films

is seeking funding for two projects:

 

MANTRA: a feature length Buddhist thriller.

 

Synopsis: When their guru dies in a hiking accident, six strangers on a spiritual retreat find themselves haunted by their delusions and desires … no one saves them. MANTRA is based on the director's personal experiences practicing bardo death state mediations on a ten-day silent retreat with Buddhist monks in Dharamsala, India in 1998.

 

El SON DEL FIN DEL CAMINO: The Song at the End of the Road - a documentary on indigenous music in Peru.

 

Synopsis: In the inevitable path of the Trans-Amazon Highway, Peru’s indigenous musicians band together to create an historic album celebrating and preserving their roots. EL SON DEL FIN DEL CAMINO does for Peruvian music what THE BUENAVISTA SOCIAL CLUB did for Cuban music.

CHARLOTTESVILLE CASTING CALL

 

Three-Fourteen Productions is looking for four different actors for an upcoming student short film being shot this December and January in Charlottesville, VA. This project will be the sequel to another short film that was shot in Spring of 2007, which was chosen to screen at a student film festival.

CASTING OFFICE INTERNSHIP

 

The Falls Church office of Carlyn Davis Casting is currently offering part time internships for the Spring Semester. These internships are unpaid, but school credit and travel stipend is offered. You do not need to be a student to apply, but please understand this is an unpaid internship.

 

Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:15am to 5:30pm. The internship would run from January 14, 2009 through May 1, 2009. Interns are responsible to come in for at least 2 consecutive days a week. You may work more than 2 days if your schedule allows.

 

Duties include answering busy phones, interaction with talent and clients, helping with Audio/Video during casting sessions, scheduling auditions, scouting talent at local theatres, etc. Strong computer skills and basic video camera knowledge (framing terms, camera use, etc) are a plus. There is no better way to learn the casting/film industry than behind the scenes.

REX Motion Media, a television/video production company and advertising agency headquartered in Hampton Roads, is seeking lighting and sound technicians for an upcoming Independent TV project.  Lighting tech should have own multi-instrument package and the ability to run and gun.  Sound tech will need to provide full sound package, including boom(s), and be able to mix off his/her hip.  Pay will be commensurate with ability, experience and equipment.  First day of production is slated for end of December, in and around Hampton Roads, and will continue for up to 20 days, spread throughout January, probably into February.

CAST NEEDED:

 

Two Meter Studios/Damascus Pictures (www.damascuspictures.com)  is

seeking non-union female and male actors for a 15 minute short.                             

We are looking to fill in several characters:

Male and Female 25-35 years old

Male and Female 40-65 years old 

 

Shooting will take place during the weekend of December 13th-14th

in Washington, DC and/or Frederick.

The film will be submitted to film festivals and  competitions. It is a non

pay job, but meals, lodging (if needed) and a DVD copy of the film will

be provided.  $10 for transportation compensation will also be available.

 

Auditions will take place between December 5th and 6th at a location TBD.

 

Candidates will also be considered for participation in the 48Hour

International Shootout Competition (participation in the competition is

by invitation only) to take place at the end of January 2009.

Casting Call for VCU Graduate Film

 

A graduate student at VCU is working on a short, experimental image-based HD video.

Looking for:

  • a female actor in her 40's or 50's, of medium build and fair skin
  • a girl between 9-13 years old, with or without acting experience

Shooting will take place sometime between November and January in Richmond, VA and should last between 4-7 days. Willing to discuss your schedule and work partly around it. The project will be shown in Anderson Gallery in May and subsequently in other fine art venues. Some non-sexual nudity required for the first part. No pay. Copy of the DVD will be provided, as well as some meals. Open to suggestions regarding other forms of compensation. DOCUMENTARY FILMS ON DISPLAY AT THE VISUAL ARTS CENTER

 

Running September 12 - December 14, the Richmond Moving Image Co-op and Visual Arts Center present a four-month documentary film series, When Janey Comes Marching Home: Films about Women and War. The film series is presented in conjunction with the exhibition, When Janey Comes Marching Home: Portraits of Women Combat Veterans, a series of large-scale photographic portraits and accompanying oral histories of American women soldiers from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
